Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are dentists specializing in surgery of the mouth, face and jaw.  They perform a wide range of procedures including routine extractions, surgical extraction of wisdom teeth, implant placement, biopsy and diagnosis of oral lesions, TMJ surgery, and other surgeries involving bones and soft tissues of the face and mouth.

Periodontist

Periodontists are dentists who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal (gums) disease.  Treatment includes procedures (surgical and non-surgical) to help arrest periodontal disease which involves the gums and bone tissue that support the teeth.  They also work closely with your dentist and dental hygienist in providing periodontal maintenance care.

Endodontist

Endodontists are dentists who specialize in root canal treatment.  This involves diagnosis and treatment of abnormalities, disease, or infection of the pulp of the tooth.  Endodontists treat conditions that are related to extensive decay, dental trauma, and abnormally formed teeth.  This treatment often provides a method of preventing tooth loss.

Prosthodontist

Prosthodontists are dentists who specialize in the exam and diagnosis of disabilities caused by loss of teeth and supporting structures.  Their treatment often includes construction of corrective prostheses to restore proper function and esthetics.  Prosthodontists frequently treat and care for patients who have “difficult to restore”  dental situations and those with special occlusal or bite concerns.

Pedodontist

Pedodontists are dentists who specialize in providing dental care for children.  They focus on management and treatment of child’s developing teeth, child behavior, children’s physical growth and development and providing preventive and restorative dentistry for children.  Their offices have child friendly décor and are geared to providing a comfortable environment to help children feel more at ease.  Pedodontists frequently are involved in aiding with care for special needs children.

Orthodontist

Orthodontists are dentists who specialize in providing care for adults and children with a variety of problems related to jaw growth and tooth development.  They are able to provide corrective measures using braces, retainers, and other removable appliances to help “straighten” a person’s teeth and correct the way the jaws line up.  Orthodontists work very closely with the patient’s dentist to help improve balanced function of the jaws and teeth and create a beautiful esthetic smile.
