Dr. Ashby Clanton, Family Dentist Johnson City, TN at Ashby P. Clanton, DDSDr. Clanton is a native of Johnson City where he graduated from Science Hill High School and then attended East Tennessee State University where he received a BS Degree in Microbiology. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences College of Dentistry in Memphis. Upon returning to his roots in the Tri Cities, Dr. Clanton worked with the State of Tennessee as a public health dentist in Kingsport, and later established his private practice here in Johnson City.

Dr. Clanton is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, First District Dental Society, and Tennessee Dental Association. He is also on the Board of Directors for the Keystone Dental Clinic which is a non-profit organization providing dental care for those in need.

Dr. Clanton has a passion for mission work both here at home and overseas. He has been on many dental mission trips to Mexico and Guatemala as well as the Appalachian Region here in the states. Dr. Clanton feels blessed and has a heart for serving people in these areas who rarely have the opportunity to receive dental care.

Dr. Clanton is married and has two adult children and two grandchildren. He enjoys the outdoors including hiking, bicycling, kayaking, fishing, travel, and spending time with family. He is an active member of Central Baptist Church where he has served as a deacon, worked in the area of children’s ministry and served on several committees including the Loaves and Fishes feeding ministry.

Dr. Clanton’s goal is to provide each of his patients and their families with excellent preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dental care in a caring and compassionate manner. He is thankful to work with a dental team that is committed to providing a comfortable and nurturing environment where maintaining a patient’s oral health is of primary importance.
