Front Office
Liz works as our front office/appointment and scheduling coordinator. She has been in the dental field since 2018 and is committed to assisting patients with their scheduling needs in order to provide for their optimal dental health. Liz’s warm and caring personality is enjoyed by all, along with her organizational skills and management of details.
Liz and her husband live in Southwest Virginia where community and family hold a special place in her life. She has studied classical piano and voice and enjoys singing and songwriting. Liz has a passion for classical music, opera and studying theology. Her other interests include cooking, knitting, writing, reading, MarioKart, outdoor activities and travel.
Liz has accompanied Dr. Clanton and a dental mission team that travels to Guatemala each summer. Her compassion for others, creativity and organizational skills help enable the dental clinic efficiently provide dental care to many patients in need.
Liz especially enjoys meeting new people and forming relationships with our patients. She is dedicated to helping patients maintain good oral health and a beautiful smile.
Sandra works as our Financial/Insurance coordinator. She is originally from the Northern Illinois area and received her dental assisting degree in Long Beach, California. She has been in the dental field for over 35 years, having experience in both the front office and chairside assisting. She joined Dr. Clanton’s office in 2021.
Sandra is married, has a family dog and two children who have gone to be with the Lord, forever remaining in her heart. She resides in the Limestone area and enjoys travel, sports, outdoor activities and spending time with family.
Sandra is dedicated to assisting patients with their insurance needs and helping with their understanding of benefit coverage.

Dental Hygienists
Debbie is a Registered Dental Hygienist who is a native of the Johnson City area and a graduate of Science Hill High School. She attended East Tennessee State University where she received a BS degree in Health Education and an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene. She has worked as a Dental Hygiene instructor at ETSU and has been working as a hygienist since 1978 in the areas of general dentistry and periodontics. Debbie joined Dr. Clanton’s practice in 2007.
Debbie is passionate about mission work and is thankful that she’s been able to serve with Dr. Clanton on Dental Mission trips to Mexico and Guatemala. She has a heart for helping people in these areas who would otherwise never be able to receive preventive dental care.
Debbie is married with three adult sons, three grandsons, one granddaughter and one dog. She dearly enjoys family gatherings and spending time with them. Her hobbies include cooking, baking, photography, gardening and any type of outdoor activity. She is an active member of Tri-Cities Baptist Church and loves teaching Pre-K Sunday School.
Debbie is dedicated to providing preventive dental care for her patients and helping them achieve optimal dental health and a beautiful smile they can enjoy throughout their lifetime.
Desiree is originally from Morristown, TN where she graduated from Morristown East High School. She is a Registered Dental Hygienist with a BS Degree from East Tennessee State University. Desiree currently resides in Johnson City with her family and has been with Dr. Clanton’s practice since 2017.
Desiree is married and has one son and two family dogs. She enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor activities, and traveling. Desiree’s hobbies also include accompanying her husband to the race track where he is involved with racing dirt late models.
Desiree is dedicated to making each patient comfortable while providing individualized preventive dental care. She also enjoys using technology in educating patients about their oral hygiene needs so they can have a healthy, beautiful smile.
Dental Assistants
Ava is a native of the Elizabethton/Stoney Creek area and is a graduate of Unaka High School. She is a Registered Dental Assistant and graduated from the ETSU Nave Paramedical Center. Ava has worked as a dental assistant since 1984 and with Dr. Clanton since he established his practice in 1987.
Ava resides in the Johnson City area and has one son. She enjoys spending time with her family and her hobbies include reading and working in her flowerbeds in her yard, and helping with local mission activities.
Ava is very active in her local church, Clark Street Baptist, and is involved in children’s ministry and mission outreach. Ava has a heart for missions and has been on many Dental Mission trips with Dr. Clanton to Mexico and Guatemala as well as the Appalachian Region here in the states. She really enjoys helping people who would otherwise not be able to receive the benefit of dental care.
Ava is very dedicated to assisting patients with their restorative and cosmetic dental needs. She enjoys the continued relationships with many of our patients and helping them maintain healthy smiles.
