Advanced Technology
When you seek treatment at our office, you can be assured that Dr. Clanton and his staff utilize the latest technology to ensure that you are receiving the best in oral health care. We offer the following technologies to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of your dental health needs:
Digital X-ray/Imaging
Dr. Clanton will determine when an x-ray is needed and what type is to be taken. Dental x-rays are extremely valuable in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining your dental health. X-rays enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone level, and analyze the health of the bone that supports your teeth. They also aid in examining the roots and nerves of your teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, evaluate for infection, and assess damage when trauma has occurred.
Digital x-rays offer more precision since we view the images on a computer monitor. They also allow for less exposure to radiation when compared to traditional x-rays.
Intraoral Camera
Dr. Clanton and his staff utilize intraoral camera technology frequently as part of our patients’ initial exam and during restorative procedures. These cameras allow us to view clear precise images of your mouth, teeth, and gums on computer monitors and aid us in accurately diagnosing dental needs. They are also a great tool for patient education as images can be shared during consultation/exam.
Dexis Carivu Transillumination
This device is used by Dr. Clanton and his team as a diagnostic aid for detection of decay and fractures in teeth. It involves placement of a hand-held “laser fluorescence detection device” directly over a tooth. Images are then produced (similar to an x-ray but radiation-free) that are captured and stored like digital x-ray and intra-oral camera images. These images can be used for evaluation and comparison with “questionable areas of concern” on an x-ray and to help diagnose suspected areas of “cracks” within the body of a tooth by transillumination of light.
Digital x-ray, intraoral camera photography, and transillumination enable our practice to save your images in our office computer to provide a record for reference of diagnosis and treatment. These images can be easily transferred to dental specialists, insurance companies, and dental laboratories as needed. Images can also be printed for our patients if desired.
