Denture Exams & Maintenance
Your dentures are an investment and require care and attention to maintain their optimum performance. The fit of your dentures will have a profound effect on your oral tissues and health. An annual exam by Dr. Clanton and his dental team will help ensure proper fit and function of your dentures.
MEDICAL AND DENTAL HISTORY
Updating your medical and dental history with any significant changes is critical to maintaining your oral health and well-being. A variety of medical and dental conditions and certain medications can alter the fit and comfort of your dentures.
Annual examinations can assist in detecting oral abnormalities including cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Early detection of these conditions is always beneficial for treatment and overall oral health.
TISSUE AND BONE
Ill-fitting dentures may cause changes in gum tissue and underlying bone that supports the denture. Dr. Clanton and his dental team can assess and make any necessary adjustments to improve fit and patient comfort.
COMFORT, FIT, AND INTEGRITY OF DENTURES
Bite problems, speech impediments and tissue irritations can be caused by an ill-fitting denture and should be attended to. Leaving these conditions unchecked can lead to more complicated situations later on. Dr. Clanton and his dental team can evaluate your dentures for cracks or chips in the denture base along with checking for broken or loose teeth. Our office works closely with a dental laboratory to help remedy any of these problems.
